adidas Originals and Avavav deepen their partnership with their Spring/Summer 2026 collection. Opting for evolution rather than reinvention, this season, creative director Beate Skonare Karlsson evolves the language of the collaboration – reframing classic silhouettes through a more deliberate and thought-provoking lens.
The apparel offering playfully transfigures archival sporting codes through printed illusions and molded constructions. A cropped track top and track pant take on sculptural forms, while a skintight base layer is reconfigured to look like a track top – a motif that has come to embody the collaboration over seasons. With the aim of exploring the spectrum of femininity – a hooded mini dress and shoulderless hoodie toy with proportions, a T-shirt and denim pants introduce new materials and cuts, and printed shorts subvert preconceived notions of sportswear. Accessories include long socks, a sweatband set, a double brim slashed cap, and a leather sports bag. Having been a mainstay of the collaborative partnership, taking on different forms since the first collection, this season’s sculpted leather sports bag is the largest version produced to date.
The footwear continues the interplay between exaggeration and contradiction. The Avavav Megaride, transforms the larger-than-life Moonrubber Megaride from previous seasons into a more stripped back, raw, silhouette. Transporting the iconic adidas Megaride for the current day, Canvas and Suede iterations feature windowed mesh uppers that resemble anatomical characters – nodding to the label’s signature cut-out caging. Meanwhile, the Modified Superstar returns, keeping its sculpted toe cap, but this time presented in two distinct variations – the Deconstructed Superstar with a soft collapsible leather upper, and the Shaved Pony Superstar with a faux pony-hair upper material that stays true to its name.
The campaign is shot by Belgian photographer, and long-time Avavav partner, Lennert Madou. Known for compositions that blend painterly aesthetics with a contrasting sense of freshness, his lens further reinforces the ethos of the collaboration through a series of still lifes – off-center and in tone, yet timeless and elevated in effect.
The Spring/Summer 2026 adidas Originals by Avavav collection launches globally on 22nd May and is available via CONFIRMED, adidas.com, adidas stores and select retailers.
